Spring Event

A 5K Race to benefit the Day Resource Center. tentatively scheduled for May 14, 2011 Runners, youth, and anyone interested is invited to join with The Mid Maryland Baptist Association to plan this fund raising event for the Day Center. Call Joel Rainey or Michelle Rainey at 410-549-7156 if you can lend a hand and help make this a community event that raises awareness and funds for those in our community who need our help.

News Update

We have reached a new high of 82 people on one day at the Day
Center. The needs are great, but fortunately so are the resources
thanks to all of you.

It has been hard not to get caught up in the sadness of Pam's
death, but if you look around you can also see the good things
happening. Two weeks ago, one of our homeless friends who is now
working took $20 he had in his pocket and gave it to one of the families
who came in that day with a tragic story. He said, "I know what it feels
like. I just wanted to help them out."

The week before a friend said to Barbara, "You know why I
come to the Day Center. I come because I have been on my own since I was
8 years old and you are parenting me, teaching me right from wrong, and
showing me love."

We also hear from time to time from our friends who have moved on. Anne
and Derrick called to let us know they are both in an apartment and
doing well. Woodchuck called on Veteran's Day, to let us know he is
living with a family and finding joy in life. He had had his whole
congregation praying for Pam. And another of our long time friends is
headed home to be with his family this week.

We can rejoice at the wonderful ways all of you who serve are making
such a difference in the lives of so many. Everyone who attends the Day
Center knows they have a community to turn to - what a blessing for all
of us.

I also want to thank Pastor Jeremy and all who attended Pam's
service and provided food and support for everyone there.

Volunteers

We have an incredible group of volunteers, those who come every day,
or every week, and those who come once a month. Because we are
continuing to see more and more people, we can also use more and more
volunteers. If you would like to become a part of the Day Center team,
or you have a group that would like to serve, contact Anne Dunn at
410-804-5089.

Christmas is coming!

Each year we have a party and provide gifts for the people who might not otherwise have a Christmas celebration.  You could help us by providing one of the following:

Our Christmas celebration will be December 27th.  We are hoping to distribute 100 bags.  Donations need to be delivered to the Center by Monday, December 22nd.
